Crimes Against Usability - Windows Vista & Office 2007
Submitted by jason@parlezuml.com (Jason Gorman) on Wed, 09/01/2008 - 15:30.I just wasted a few seconds trying to find Microsoft Office on my Vista start menu (or whatever they're calling it now). And then they go and screw around with the menus and toolbars in Office 2007, rendering me a complete novice again after 15 years getting used to the way they used to be laid out.
It's like having a cleaner who moves all your stuff around every night so that you can't find anything the next morning.

Test levels: why should we care?
Submitted by Ainars Galvans on Wed, 09/01/2008 - 16:59. general software testing | unit testingToday I continue to talk about why rather than how. Different sources (academic, military, etc.) define the 3 (or 4) test levels: Unit, Integration, System (and UAT). I’ve yet to see any unambiguous definition that anyone agrees with… I wonder why military one is most accepted in industry… But I don’t really care. I care not to miss defects. I would like to look at tests levels from this prospective...
Bisection and Beyond
Submitted by Danny Faught on Wed, 09/01/2008 - 17:51.My article Bisection and Beyond is featured on StickyMinds this week. In this article, I describe the basic approach, and also suggest some fruitful opportunities to deviate [...]
Open Source Testing - 2 Minute Survey
Submitted by Opensourcetesting.org - latest news on Wed, 09/01/2008 - 19:19.Welcome to 2008!
I hope you have had an enjoyable and relaxing break and are ready to go into 2008 with new gusto!
Throughout January all users of Open Source Testing are invited to complete the 2 Minute Survey, to help influence new features and services on Open Source Testing in the coming year.
2007 was a great year for Open Source Testing. The monthly audience surpassed the 100,000 users milestone for the first time and while the open source user community grew, the developer community really delivered the goods with existing tools maturing and innovating strongly and new tools arriving regularly to fill yet more niches. And as the site began to generate steady advertising revenue I was able to launch of a donations program back into the open source testing community, another long-term milestone for the site.

Late nights, early mornings, too many projects, and Hyperion IR Web Client
Submitted by Mike Kelly on Thu, 10/01/2008 - 01:53.I’m no stranger to work. I’m what some might call a workaholic. However, recently I’ve been working too much. Between my day job, writing, and AST I’m a bit frazzled. One of the nice things I’ve found about our community is that when the going gets tough, people are there to help.In AST, Scott Barber [...]
