testingReflections recent outage

this.site
To all testingReflections loyal users, first let me say that I cannot apologise enough for the extended down time that you've experienced.

I cannot reveal all the details to this at this time but will do so in the near future. Suffice to say that the cause of the problems was due to a lack of available time to take the best care of testingReflections. The problem was exacerbated by a server move that happened before I'd had a chance to do what was necessary to make TR compatible with the new environment.

Over the last few days I've had to make time (at the expense of sleep or much rest over the bank holiday). The work is not yet complete but I am testing the next stage and will notify you of any further down-time well in advance (save any other unexpected events happening).

Thank you for your patience and I hope you continue to gain value from testingReflections.com

Best Regards

Antony Marcano

Apologies - Problems with testingReflections

Some time from 18th September there were several problems with testingReflections occurring. This followed an upgrade to PHP performed by the ISP. Unfortunately, one of the modules (textile) is not compatible so I've had to disable it.

Any blogger that used textile in any of their posts (including me) resulted in an error (showing 'page not found'). This also resulted if any blogger that previously used textile attempted to post to their blog.

Why do I say "no thanks" to some blogs?

this.site
[textile]It has been brought to my attention that some people who have requested that their blog is aggregated on testingReflections and subsequently were declined feel somewhat rejected - or indeed bitter about this.

I expected this, however, it doesn't make me feel any less disappointed about it. It was inevitable that egos would be bruised the moment I had to start saying "no".

h2. Personal Feelings or Disservice to the Community?

Please welcome TR's first homepage sponsor

[textile]testingReflections (or TR as many of you are now calling it) has been going now for nearly three years now. I've put a lot into the site and it seems that you all have also got a lot out of it. Readers have a one-stop for high-quality content, around which a community of some of the leading thinkers in the field is building. Publishers have their content and their feeds publicised to 20,000 unique visitors each month and rising! All this, free for everyone! Well, not free for absolutely everyone... Setting aside hosting costs... It has taken a lot of my time to keep this all running for you, and believe me when I say the current sponsored links don't pay very much. And now I need to start spending even more time trying to bring TR more up to date and work towards giving you more of the features you want. Unfortunately, time is not limitless and I have had to take steps to reduce my availability to paying clients in order to make time for TR. I was always mindful of adding banner-based paid-advertising but having consulted with many of you, readers and publishers, and it seems that you are happy for companies to sponsor TR. The first step in this process is to accept our new, imminent, homepage sponsor. Their sponsorship spot will go live very soon... They have been watching TR for some time and want to contribute to its ongoing success... whilst of course increasing their own brand awareness and I am sure they hope to also sell something to you. Watch this space for more info. If you have any questions or concerns, please don't hesitate in e-mailing me on admin - at - testingReflections - dot - com. Other potential sponsors can contact me to discuss how they can contribute to the future of TR through sponsorship. E-mail me on admin - at - testingReflections - dot - com. All the best -- Antony Marcano P.S. Please do read this brief sponsored links disclaimer.
