An Open-Minded to Approach Quality

general software testing | Open Source | project management | test management
When I first came across testingreflections.com, I was inspired as to how a group of men and women have come together to express their views and opinions on quality. I was even more impressed by the various bloggers who have an open and innovative mind toward quality and test automation.

I recently started a blog called Guerrilla QA. In short, Guerrilla QA is a philosophy that based on working with the minimum, and getting the maximum. In other words, what do you do when there is no documentation, requirements, coding standards, formal methodology, budget, test tools or test management software in your organizaton?

This philosophy requires a change in attitude and creativity to find ways to improve quality when you don't have a "support system" in place. Having an open mind will allow an individual to find creative solutions to quality instead of complaining about what you don't have.

Check out my blog at guerrillaqa.blogspot.com for details. I look forward to posting my experiences on testing reflections and learning from this unique and diverse community!

Re: Welcome

Hi Neill,

Thanks for the welcome. I plan to work on feeding my articles to this site. Also, I'll check out James Lindsay to see how much we have in common on this topic.

I'm looking forward to sharing the knowledge and reading all of the various posts.

Thanks Again!

Clint

Re: Welcome

Hi Antony,

Thanks for the reply. I will definitely work on making an RSS 0.9x feed available of my content. I'll do whatever I can to help with testingReflections.com. A site like this is long overdue for the QA and testing community, so I plan to spread the word about TR and cotribute as much as possible!

Take care and thanks again.

RE: Welcome

Welcome Clint!

I too am interested in reading more, especially to see how this type of thinking compliments/differs/extends concepts in the 'Agile' world? I am also interested if testingReflections then influences your perspective at all...

Blogger feeds in Atom
I would very much like for this subject to be included in testingReflections.

Blogger (blogspot), however, uses the Atom format for publishing feeds. Unfortunately, testingReflections doesn't yet have the ability to read Atom feeds.

Making testingReflections Atom enabled is on my list of things to do, but hasn't been a high priority since I haven't needed it until now. It will happen - it is only a matter of time...

Maintaining testingReflections voluntarily, as I do, means that only a limited amount of my time can go into it. If I can find ways of encouraging donations and generating more money from Google ads then it would be a lot easier to take time out from my day-job and add many of the features (beyond just reading Atom feeds) that would make testingReflections so much more than it is.

So, I can't say exaclty when I will be able to do this - but it could be a couple of months due to day-job workload and other commitments.

In the mean time
Please do draw attention to your articles and posts through your testingReflections blog, or cross-post them to both ebloggar and testingReflections (easy to do if you are using a blogging client).

Alternatively, if you could make an RSS 0.9x feed available, then I can get it aggregated sooner rather than later.

All the best - and I hope you enjoy testingReflections.com

Welcome

[textile]
Clint, welcome to the community. Much of what you describe as a philosophy comes across as elements of "rapid testing" and is similiar to comments made by "James Lyndsay":http://www.workroom-productions.com in a talk he has given, though he as far as I remember has not post yet as Guerrilla testing and qa.
There is also a way to have your blog feed to this site too. The first couple of posts look interesting and I look forward to reading more.
There are a number of other people out there who have also written in a similiar spae and I know some of them watch this site so it will be interesting to see how it develops and if people start to collaborate through this forum.
