functional test tools | GUI test tools | Mercury LoadRunner | performance testing tools | Visual Studio Team System 2005
On Tuesday I attended Mercury NYC Local User Group. There were two presentations from Mercury – product update and business process testing. Most people were interested in functional testing.
Some things that were interesting for me:
- Mercury plans integration with the new VisualStudio, no details
- New TestDirector (for Quality Center 8.2) is re-written to J2EE, multiplatform now
- Quality Center 8.2 includes Actuate reports
- QTP could support multiple scripting languages in 9.0
- LoadRunner 8.1 will include new VUGen:
o Guided methodology for scripting
o Customizable Workflow
o Correlation Studio
o New IDE
“Business process testing” in QTP (will be added to WinRunner too), as I understand, is high-level description of test cases/scenarios (like login, transfer funds, logout) with some details (input values, etc.) so placeholders are created for future scripts for each “business component” (like login, transfer funds, logout) so works of business analysts and script creators/testers can be separated, but done inside the same tool.
