Beginnings, Adventures and Crossroads

After many, many months of being poked and prodded to create a blog , the time has come. :) And, it seems appropriate, as I'm starting out on a new adventure as a truly independent consultant. Now, this is not to say that I'm doing it all on my own out here. Not so at all. First, props must go to PerfTestPlus for making this possible. And, I can never thank my testing colleagues, and friends, enough for all the knowledge, support, humor and patience they have given me over the years. That's right - it IS an honor to be nominated! And to be in the company of some wonderful folks, and outstanding thinkers/testers.

All that said, I'm going to start out with a little favor to ask of you all, whoever you might be that read this. I want some help remaining committed to and energized about testing. I've been learning a lot, and thinking quite a lot, and feeling a little bit like I'm about to burst. And, I think this is the place I do it. So, I want to document my time out here in the mid-west (I'm an East Coast girl by nature) and all the personal and professional adventures that I happen into - it feels like an adventurous time. But, more importantly, I want to chronicle the mental and intellectual journey on which they take me. Just as I feel I'm about to burst with some serious testing "stuff" I also feel that I'm about to cross a threshold of some sort. And I don't want to lose out on these things because I don't give them enough thought, or synthesize what they mean, or at least try to make something useful to share out of it. So, all I ask of you is that if you come across my blog, don't just be a passive participant. Let me know you're out there, and how you're responding to what I'm saying. That's what will keep me coming back. :)

Warmest regards,
Laura

Not sure what you're thanking me for...

... all I ever did was push you into jobs and contracts that turned out to be an ever bigger pain than I thought they were going to be. (grin) But be that as it may, you're welcome.

As a testament to my faith in your continued high quality blogging, I've added you to my blogroll after a mere 3 posts.

Hi, I'm the guy that was sitt

Hi, I'm the guy that was sitting next to you at the August IWST. I just wanted to say that I think it's great that your focus is to "chronicle the mental and intellectual journey" you're on. There's no way you can go wrong with that way of looking at it, imho! :-) Welcome to bloggin'!

Welcome - you are in good company

Laura,
welcome to the wonderful world of blogging and you are in excellent company, many other people in this community have been prodded and poked into it and the results have been excellent.
You are in good company here, Both Mike and Scott (by the way the link to Scott's site does not work, it comes up with http:www.testingreflections.com/ prior to his URL, it is a simple format thing I have often fallen fowl of) comment here and if you can hold your own with those folks, you sure have intellegence, understanding and an ability to apply it to a given context which is always good.
I even subscribed to the new blog :), take your time, find your voice, find the blogs that interest you and enjoy your time in this online community Antony Marcano has so kindly provided us :)
