October issue of Software Test & Performance

agile | performance testing | test driven development
Got the October issue of Software Test & Performance magazine. Looks like with Scott Barber’s column and often performance-related articles the magazine becomes the most interesting publication for those who are interested in load and performance testing.

The Scott’s “Revolution or Realization?” column in this issue is about “agile performance testing” (pp.11-12). Can’t agree more. I even wrote something like this before. Still I think that we have here not only “realization”, but “evolution”. Some tools starting to support smooth “unit/component performance testing,” diagnostic tools allowing tracing a performance problem down to source code are improving, etc. So “performance testing” just started to become “compatible” with “agile” and “test-driven” development. I hope that “test-driven” development can eventually implement the old “performance testing” mantra to test early (quite rare happened in the real life so far).

My article “Load Testing in Complex Environments” is also published in this issue (pp.22-30). I tried to outline different ways to generate load on the system there.
