Some times I stun even myself.

FIT/FitNesse
[textile] Well guess it is nearly time to move up to the video ipod. I took another learning point off "James Bach":http://www.satisfice.com/ and had been using an "ipod":http://blackbox.cs.fit.edu/blog/james/archives/000198.html (the nano rather then a shuffle though) for podcast downloads of lectures on software testing and development.
Now I have discovered there are videos of testing talks out there - free on google video, tonight I came across this "gem":http://video.google.com/videoplay?docid=-7618420216108922950&q=software+testing

(it worked really well too, much helped by the 10gig broadband upgrade i suspect.)

I wanted an excuse for an Ipod video - I think I have just got me one!

Thanks to Google for posting this TechTalk and Rick Mugridge for this excellent presentation on FIT storytests. To quote "the ninth doctor":http://www.bbc.co.uk/doctorwho/characters/doc9.shtml (yes I am that sad), "Fantastic!".

I have seen fitness do this

However I have not seen anyone do this in FIT, I believe it can be done but I find Fitness is better for this wider focus and has as been evolved from WIKI engines to help in this way, at least that's how I have read it.

I love the quote "I spend very little time debugging now before I had tests". Since debugging means the removal of a bug then what he is saying is that writing tests means his code doesn't have bugs. i.e. he doesn't even need to run them. if he ran those tests and found a defect, then he'd be debugging, which he isn't.

i'm therefore skeptical of that particular sound bite.

however, FIT, like it, used it in anger, but I want to use FIT to test the app from the UI inwards, not just the business logic[1] - anyone doing that?

[1] because I want it to be meaningful to a BA who thinks in terms of the end product.
