Eclipse Profiler...

[textile]I was asked the other day if I could speak on a topic around the theme of "Shifting Paradigms in Performance Modelling"...

One of the interesting things about agile projects that the architecture emerges and evolves (as opposed to being designed up-front).

So, how do you keep up? How can you model performance if you don't know what the architecture will look like far enough into the future to justify modelling? Do you need to?

The other key factor in agile projects is that you should always have a working system (even if it is only a small part of it)... So, why model when you can test what you have so far?

...some food for thought, eh?

Until I come back to this topic (when I have more time)...

I am working predominantly in a Java environment currently (as ever, I am technology agnostic/independent) so I am having to learn tools that are new to me... One of the things I came across recently to help with this process is the "Eclipse Profiler":http://eclipsecolorer.sourceforge.net/index_profiler.html for which there is this useful "eclipse profiler article":http://www.theserverside.com/articles/article.tss?l=EclipseProfiler

Enjoy! :-)
