Software testing trends

general software testing
[textile]
Cool new Google tool, Google Trends. In the example below, I looked at trends for software testing:

If you run the trend yourself, at the bottom of the page you'll see normalized data by City, Region, or Language. Be sure to check out the regions where the searches on testing come from. More importantly, note that AST made the list of sample news stories.

It's a fun little tool to play around with. Compare performance testing, security testing, and usability testing...

Decline?

[textile]Is it me or is there a decline in searches about software testing since the beginning of 2004? Does this mean there is a down-turn in interest?

I'm not so sure... Could it be that people are learning about software testing through other avenues? Blogs? Aggregators? News feeds? Books? Dare I say it... other search engines?

Well, at least there seems to be an upward trend this year...

I searched for 'software development' and saw a more noticeable decline:

I too found the regional stats interesting... It would be fascinating to see the trends by region too!
