Boundary Testing

general software testing
New video posted to the media page. Follow this link to download Boundary Testing.
Participants: James Bach and Michael Kelly Format: Video with audio (mostly audio) Run time: Just under twenty minutes Topic: Boundary testing is often said to be one of the simplest test techniques. You simply find out what the boundaries are, you try to get close to that boundary, and you try to go past that boundary. In this video we explore the following boundaries in Microsoft Word's bullets and numbering feature: input boundaries, output boundaries, interactions with other boundaries, inner boundaries, and outer boundaries. While not explicitly used or mentioned in this video, the following may help you with your boundary testing: - Consistency heuristics - Perlclip - Blink testing

Hello Mike + James,

Hello Mike + James,

first I must say - I did not hear both of your voices yet -
so this makes you more personal to me.
I guess this was recorded during one of the BCRIT-sessions?

It was interesting to see (or actually see + hear), how the tests went:
besides other errors like spelling errors (in the error-dialoque "Start At..." it should be small a),
we see a demonstration of boundary testing.
With just some fields getting tested, James + Mike easily create failures elsewhere.
So, here we can ask why others do not see this failures at MS? or they found them, but did not yet have the time to fix in this release?

Also the voice changes were like it is during a test-session (yippie - we found a bug :-) ).
And we can see here, that 4 eyes see more than just two.

some improvements perhaps for the next time:
perhaps you can hand over also the keyboards to the other "pair tester", so not only James ideas get executed :-)

at Zeljko: I think without video it would be less interesting.

But I have another question to the authors:
can I host also the video on my place (of course with giving reference to where I have this video from)?

Would you consider converting

Would you consider converting your "video with audio (mostly audio)" to audio only? I do not have the time to watch 20 minute video, but I would love to hear it.
