Agile Cartoons & Memetic Immunodeficiency
Agile Cartoons & Memetic Immunodeficiency
Submitted by jason@parlezuml.com (Jason Gorman) on Tue, 29/01/2008 - 15:22.Mike Vizdos kindly emailed me yesterday and suggested I might like to follow-up my post about Scrum (y'know, the one where I compared it to a virus) by writing about his web site called implementingscrum.com
Happy to oblige, Mike. I've not seen the site before, so I'm coming to it with new eyes. Before I throw my custard pies, I should stress that this is a good site with lots of good advice. The cartoons are quite diverting, too.
The first thing that strikes me on deeper inspection is how there's a sort of "lesson for today" that follows each cartoon. This is quite reminiscent of some religious web sites I've seen, which use humour to introduce a particular message - disarming the natural skeptic in many of us, and allowing us to temporarily suspend our disbelief long enough for ideas to take hold.

Going back to the virus analogy, I imagine this is like lowering the host's immunity and making it more susceptible to infection.
I'm sure Mike will be delighted with the comparison.
