performance testing
[textile]I just got back from "WOPR3":http://www.performance-workshop.org/ in Chicago... invited attendees were:
Henry Amistadi; Ross Collard; Ed Glas; Julian Harty; Dawn Haynes; Ed Hill; Paul Holland; Sean Hull; Chris Johnson ; Karen Johnson; Mike Kelly; Richard Leeke; John McConda; Antony Marcano; Bret Pettichord; Eric Proegler; Rob Sabourin; Bob Sklar; Roland Stens.
I have never sat in one room where the ratio of experts to non-experts was so high... I would say - this was a room **full** of experts.
I will be providing links to the paper that I presented and some of the highlights over the coming week as time permits.
A special thanks to the organisers and commiserations to those that couldn't make it thanks to Hurricane Frances.
One of the main highlights for me, apart from sharing the Power of "OpenSTA":http://www.opensta.org with the attendees, was Microsoft's Visual Studio Team System (VSTS) 2005! Read on for more info...
I had the benefit of being seated next to Ed Glas, the man in charge of development of the web test and load test parts of VSTS2005... he delivered a powerful and exciting presentation of some impressive features. The eyes of all of the attendees were popping at some of the scripting capabilities and Ed spent a lot of time with all of us trying to understand our needs. Ed is a great guy - very interested in giving us a tool that will be extremely useful...
Licensing is alleged to be very reasonable rates, per CPU - obliterating the VU licensing model.
"Video demos of the Load Testing features in VSTS2005":http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/details.aspx?FamilyId=88F7CB8B-473B-4ED5-BA47-ABBC06D0048E&displaylang=en will give you a very good idea - but there is nothing like seeing it with your own eyes.
