If you live in a small country like me, you may or may not need to travel too far to get to testing conference. There is an annual Latvia test conference and I know numerous conferences in Sweden. Although I don’t like to go to conferences too much, I try to learn about them and their content as much as possible. Here I share what I know about my region conferences and hope to learn more from you.
But first of all - why do I care
Do you read newspapers – “in the world” page? Medium sized earthquake or a medium sized country take-over in another continent: why should you care? This will not affect us (until it not oil-country :). So why should we care? And still we keep reading the news!
Just the same way I keep reading all the conference contents I could find. I seldom participate them because I don’t want to travel (and let miss my family). So I start looking for regional events. Anyone could suggest?
Conference trends
Things went different in different countries around the region. I’m proud that we have annual (pure) testing conference in Latvia since 2000. The best thing about it that it is still for free (thanks to volunteers and sponsors). As you cold see the language is Latvian however (with a few English speakers in last years). By the way – if you are from Latvia don’t miss it this year – only two weeks left.
I’ve been contacted by several people from Sweden with different conferences taking place Oredev was regional developer’s conference since 2005 with testing track added in 2006. Although less mature (I can’t resist to quote their goal “to reduce costs and customer and management satisfaction.” :-) event, still Lisa Hubendick draw my attention by ambitions to include whole region and only for QA and test management.
How about other countries?
Well, other than European conferences – anyone aware of local events taking place in the region? Drop me an email on ojnjars@inbox.lv or comment here.
