Sluggish starts slow subsequently successful Service screening streams

That title could be from a page in Graeme Base's book Animalia. It is an amazing picture book, with a small boy hiding in the inventive illustrations on each page.  It has recently been turned into a cartoon and is used in creative writing classes in schools as well.   I don't know if Michael Jackson's children know of the book but their late father would have loved it, like he loved Peter Pan.

Strangely, at Michael's memorial service it seems the only reference to Peter Pan was in the programme with his quote "I'll always be Peter Pan in my heart".  While my earlier post Breaking news breaks records across the net noted the impact of searches for news of his passing, the exponentially higher traffic needed to handle live video feeds of the memorial service led to anticipation of an internet crash.  Remarkably, this wasn't the case despite the worldwide 33% increase in traffic from the millions of video streams, as well as the associated social commentary. There was a noticable performance hit, with response times slowing and one broadband measure reporting a 50% throughput drop.  There are still two more possible news items that could cause another crash, Michael's grave site location and the final results of his autopsy.

Meanwhile MJ's music and image soar around cyberspace like Peter Pan flying around Neverland.  To borrow a phrase from Graeme Base,  we are all the richer from the result of MJ's Passion, Persistence and Providence, and just slightly slowed by his impact on Internet Performance!.
